This was my very first attempt at CQ.
The CQ purse was my second attempt at doing CQ. I was inspired by Pat Winter's purses - Pat helped me with attaching the purse clip.
I am sending three pictures of the little embellished purses I made.
Here are two views of a purse I just finished making to take to the beach this summer. It measures approximately 11" x 12".
The last picture is a one inch CQ block I made today as a challenge to myself.
This tiny CQ is peiced with sulk dupioni and stitched with one strand of Eterna silk floss. The CQ measure 1.25" wide by 1.5" tall.
The lamp shade is pieced with silk dupioni.
The M block has my small collection of black glass beads on it.
Here is my blue square for the Readers' Showcase.
I was just reading your web site and because your next copi is focusing on beads, I thought you might like to see some of my work.
Here is a picture of one of my latest quilts. Minnow Joan, done for a friend who is a published poet. That is a literary critic at the top right!
Here is my quilt that was juried onto the Canadian National Quilt Show this year: Wanda Makes Waves. Lots of sea shells, sequined fishnet, freeze dried starfish, mirros and pieces of CD.
It was a mental picture of this eye that got her started...a double row of theatrical eyelashes! She is so Sexy!
Green silver-lined #6 beads used for the main bag and #8 seed beads used for the crocheted rope handle. 14mm Malacite balls adorn the front of the bag.
Champagne silver-lined done all in #6 beads.
Silver-lined red with crocheted bangle handels fone in #8 seed beads and adorned with 8mm round swarovski crystals.
Silver-lined luster gray #6 seed beads, adorned with fresh water pearls. This one has two compartments inside.
Hot pink silver-lined #11 seed beads. Trimmed in 4mm bicone swarovski crystals.
This is my crazy quilted doll ...
This is my entry .. it is a beaded butterful on a burgundy velvet eveing bag that i did for my daughter's birthday.
Here are some pictures of a wall hanging I made for my Great Grandaughter. I found the picture on the net and printed it off on silk to embellish it. Then just used the blue dupioni silk block to center it on. Of course, next had to be some crazy quilt blocks with embellishments. The binding is blue ribbon with embellishment stitches on it as well.
WALL HANGING FOR ASHLEY MY GREAT GRANDDAUGHTER I made this wall hanging (25" square) for my great granddaughter. The scene is a little girl praying beside her bed. She has her dollies kneeling with her in prayer. The caption under the picture says: "Does this count?" and is followed by Matthew 18-20 - "Where two or more are gathered together in My Name, there will I be also." The print in the center is a silk print, embellished all over and centered on blue dupioni silk. The other 'silky' fabrics surrounding it in a crazy quilt fashion are embellished with Silk Ribbon Embroidery. You can see the close ups of this center block and the embellishments by clicking on them on the left and they will appear for you. Made entirely by hand. 2004
This photo is the piece I did last year for sister #4. It does have a lot of beading on it, but as it is framed behind glass. The tree trunk is couched boucle', with a bead a the base of each needle cluster. My sister's black Labrador (her first child!) is a man's tie tack found at an antique fair, and painted black with blacksmith paint. I really enjoyed the Readers' Showcase last issue, and have incorporated several ideas into the piece I am working on for Sister #3.
I've had a lot of fun doing these over time. Sandi My turquoise bead wisteria stitching on a RR block. My interpretation of Mary Jo's wisteria I saw on a RR block. This is done by me on my practice block. Left side is beads stitched in a grouping, right side is beads stitched individually. I have a pink and gray flower with tiny pearls and a pearl center, on the lower left. My pink spiders, webs and turquoise braid on a RR block. My spider, webs and stitching on RR block. My spiders, leaves and beads on a RR block.
This is a free motion machine embroidered picture I did for a centre panel of a cushion front. Hope you like it :o)
I started doing crazy quilting (not traditional quilts) last year along with silk ribbon embroidery. I learned through books. From that start and my love for the silk ribbon, I tried to find other items I could put it on, thusly the purse, album and the doll. The fifth picture is the doll (adapted from Eleanor Peace Bailey's pattern Monique).
The first 2 are the front and back of a tote bag I made. It was my third project.

The third and fourth pictures are of my first CQ endeavors, but they are still unused on any project.
I made this purse for my sister's birthday. She is a real firecracker, born on 4th of July. I don't know how old she was before she new all the fireworks weren't for her.
Here is a crazy quilt tote I made, it has velvet, lace, silks, beads and trims. I made it to use for Quilt markets as it is pretty large and has a secure flap. The back is also CQ. This bag was based on an Amy Butler pattern called Madison Bags.
I've been lurking for a long time and thought I would share this pillow. I embroidered each patch on a little hoop, with no final use in mind. When it came time to give a wedding shower present, I put them together like this. The yellow velvet piece wasn't big enough so I added to it. Thanks for looking.
