Glitter is not just for paper. With permanent fabric glue, glitter can be applied to any textile such as fabric, ribbon and lace.

You will need some small stencils for this project. I use paper punches found in the scrapbook section of craft stores. Small wall stencils can be used as well.

Supplies:

  • Card Stock
  • ˝" Stencil Brush
  • Permanent Fabric Glue
  • Stencils
  • Fabric
  • Ribbon
  • Lace

Directions:

Punch the design out of a small piece of cardstock. Place the stencil where desired on fabric or ribbon. Using your stencil brush, pounce or dab fabric glue through the stencil and onto the fabric. Be sure to use enough glue but not so much that it gets under the edge of the stencil.

Carefully remove the stencil, lifting it up and off the fabric. Don’t slide it across the fabric. Sprinkle with glitter. Shake off excess over a sheet of paper, and pour extra back into bottle. Allow to dry overnight before using.

To glitter lace, pounce glue onto the lace using the stencil brush; make sure you have good coverage. Then, sprinkle glitter on the lace and shake off excess onto paper. Again, allow to dry over night.

Glitter comes in an array of sizes. For glittering fabric and ribbon, I prefer fine or extra fine glitter. For lace, chunky glitter is quite lovely. Below is a purse that has lots of sparkly glitter!
