| For this issue, rather than go with a project, I am going to tell you
about a new product I've found. At least, it's new to me. It's called
Texture Magic.

I love this product and above is a scan of the front and back of the
package so that you can better see how this fabric is used. Also, below is a
look at just three of the numerous different textures you can achieve just by
changing the stitching and/or the distance between the stitching lines. The
smaller the area the more I like it. I've also seen photos of this used by
others who have stitched free motion on their machines. So pretty!
This long piece uses silk and Texture Magic with stitching lines 3/4"
apart, forming squares. This piece started out in size at 7"x36" and was a
tad more then 5"x28" after steam shrinking.

This small sample was stitched the same as the piece above but I added
fleece in between the silk and the Texture Magic. It made the areas
smoother, higher, more like an old-fashioned popcorn effect.

I used a squiggly stitch from my sewing machine and stitched the lines a
little closer together still forming squares. This looks a little like
smocking to me.

Give it a try yourself, and why not send the results to CQMagOnline. It's
always nice to see what others are doing. I have a lot more experimenting to
do with Texture Magic! |
